Waiting in the rain to go into Beatrix Potter's house
We visited Helen Beatrix Potter's house, Hill Top that is just out of Windemere, in the Lakes District. The house has been kept the same for the past 100 years so is quite amazing, and full of history, interesting stories etc. Beatrix bought the house in Nov 1905 for £2,805 and she actually wrote most of her books whilst living in this house. Heaps of her illustrations in the book are of the characters in her house! So, in each room of the house, there were books open to pages where she had drawn her characters (Jemima Puddleduck, Tom Kitten etc) in those rooms. It was quite amazing! She wasn't just a great writer, but was apparantly an amazing farmer too!
