Holland…..land of cycling!

We arrived in Holland amongst an entorage of other cyclists – people old, young, those with babies and children strapped onto bikes everywhere, those with bike trailers for their dogs and even entire families of cycle tourers. It was an amazing feeling…people really are “bike crazy” here and it’s the norm to travel by bike. The cycle paths are incredible, and all cars give way to bikes. For once in my life, being on a bike makes you feel more important that cars!

Another amazing thing about Holland is that almost every farm has also got a camping area. They are of an incredible standard and we always met interesting people whilst staying there.

Holland is flat though, and after several days of cycling along the coast between the Dyke and the sand dunes, it all started to look very familiar. But, due to the flat terrain, it was easy to pump out more km’s each day and so time started to pass very quickly.
